SINGAPORE — Travellers going from Singapore to Hong Kong in the new air travel bubble will enjoy promotions and gifts such as a limited-edition reusable face mask. Those flying here from Hong Kong will get a similar welcome, under a tie-up between the two cities' tourism boards unveiled on Wednesday (Nov 11).

The collaboration is the first between Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) and comes after the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore announced further details on the air bubble, which will allow all forms of travel between Singapore and Hong Kong from Nov 22.

To reassure travellers, both destinations have put in place city-wide certification programmes for hygiene and safety, with Singapore introducing a hygiene excellence award — SG Clean — and HKTB rolling out an “anti-epidemic hygiene measures certification scheme” that reaffirms that anti-Covid-19 measures have been put in place.

As part of the partnership, STB and HKTB will be undertaking joint promotional activities such as coordinated social media content, the two boards said in a joint press statement on Wednesday.

Gifts, such as a limited-edition reusable mask designed by Singapore lifestyle brand Onlewo, will be given to passengers while stocks last. More information about other gifts will be released closer to the start of the air travel bubble.

Travellers onboard air travel bubble flights till the end of 2020 will also be treated to a special inflight menu featuring local favourites from Singapore and Hong Kong curated by Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific.

Holidaymakers to both destinations can also look forward to attractive deals and experiences from a range of tourism partners which can be found on the STB’s one-stop visitor portal and HKTB’s all-in-one platform.

STB chief executive officer Keith Tan said the travel agreement is a significant milestone demonstrating the close friendship between the two cities.

“Singapore is well-equipped to handle the Covid-19 crisis and with our strong track record, we are confident that Hong Kong travellers can explore Singapore with a peace of mind.

“Singapore’s tourism industry has reinvented our offerings, with new products and experiences that will surprise visitors even if they have been to Singapore before. Together with our tourism partners, Singapore stands ready to welcome Hong Kong travellers to Singapore.”

HKTB executive director Dane Cheng said he is excited to see the resumption of travel between Hong Kong and Singapore, which paves the way for more tourist flights to and from other markets.

“Thanks to the united efforts of people in different sectors in stepping up their hygiene measures, we are confident Hong Kong is clean and ready to welcome visitors back,” he said.

“What’s more, we have laid on a selection of amazing offers for our visitors, including hotels and attractions, a diverse selection of travel experiences, and incredible value-for-money deals.”

Winter holidaymakers visiting Hong Kong can look forward to the Christmas celebrations, Hong Kong Wine and Dine Festival, art exhibitions in the Hong Kong Museum of Arts and experience the best hiking and cycling season.

As for travellers from Hong Kong to Singapore, Christmas events such as a 3.1-km dazzling Christmas light-up along Orchard Road and Gardens by the Bay’s festive extravaganza Christmas Wonderland await them.

These visitors will also be among the first overseas visitors to have a chance to experience Singapore’s new offerings such as Aqua Gastronomy, an underwater dining pop-up at Resorts World Sentosa’s S.E.A. Aquarium.
