Wetter weather expected in first half of April, temperature to exceed 35°C on some days
SINGAPORE — Moderate to heavy thundery showers are expected on most afternoons in the first half of April, with daily maximum temperatures forecast to exceed 35°C on several days, the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) said on Monday (April 1).
While more showers are expected, the daily maximum temperatures may range between 34°C and 35°C on most days.
The total rainfall during this period is forecast to be near average over most parts of Singapore, said the weather agency.
In its review of the weather condition for the second half of March, MSS said that the past month was fairly dry and warm, with the daily maximum temperatures recording above 35°C on most days.
“The highest daily maximum temperature of 36.3°C was recorded at Chua Chu Kang on March 24, 2024.”
Moderate to heavy thundery showers fell over the southern and western parts of Singapore in the late afternoon on March 17, with the highest daily total rainfall of 81.1mm recorded at Kent Ridge being the highest for that fortnight.
MSS said: “Well below average rainfall was received across the island in the second fortnight of March 2024. Changi and Simei registered rainfall of 99 per cent below average, and Kent Ridge registered rainfall of 10 per cent below average.”
