Woman arrested for allegedly stealing more than 400 mobile phones

An electronics service company made a police report after it found mobile phones missing from its warehouse.

SINGAPORE — A 38-year-old woman was arrested on Saturday (May 25) for allegedly stealing more than 400 mobile phone sets worth about S$300,000.

In a press release on Sunday, the police said that they received a report on the incident from an electronics service company on May 24. The company said that the phones had gone missing from its warehouse.

After ground enquiries, officers from the Bedok Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested her on Saturday.

The police also seized 65 mobile phones and about S$6,000 in cash.

The woman will be charged in court on Monday with criminal breach of trust as a servant. If convicted, she could be jailed up to 15 years and fined.
