SINGAPORE: A 35-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday (Aug 10) for her suspected involvement in the death of her eight-year-old daughter.
The police said they were alerted to an incident at a residential unit along Geylang Lorong 31 at about 11.40am on Tuesday, where the girl was found lying motionless with multiple wounds.
She was unconscious when taken to hospital and was pronounced dead at 12.45pm, the police said.
Her mother was arrested at the scene. She will be charged with murder on Wednesday.
The police said they will seek a court order to remand her for psychiatric assessment.
The offence of murder carries the death penalty.
