SINGAPORE – Construction works for the last five MRT stations on the northern stretch of the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) has begun. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on today (April 26) for the Maxwell, Shenton Way, Marina Bay, Marina South and Gardens by the Bay stations.

Guest-of-Honour and Adviser to Tanjong Pagar GRC Grassroots Organisations, Dr Lily Neo, said residents, including the elderly, will benefit from better connectivity when the stations are ready.

They just need to travel from the Havelock or Maxwell station to Outram Park station to reach Singapore General Hospital for their healthcare needs.

Construction works for the other 17 stations along the northern stretch of the Thomson-East Coast Line have been going on since 2014. They will be ready in phases from 2019. The entire northern stretch from Woodlands North station to Gardens by the Bay station, will be ready in 2021. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
