Bangladesh monsoon death toll hits 50, thousands displaced
Flash floods and landslides triggered by monsoon rains have killed at least 50 people in Bangladesh, forcing tens of thousands to flee their homes.
Army and border guard teams are using boats to deliver food, drinking water and other essential supplies to communities cut off by floodwaters.
About 35,000 people have taken refuge in government-run shelters as many homes remain submerged.
Forecasters expect conditions to improve in some flooded districts, but active monsoon rains could bring further flooding to northern and northeastern Bangladesh.
