NDP 2026: Behind the scenes of the state flag flypast preparations

Nearly 90 people across three sites are involved in preparing the state flag for the National Day Parade.

Measuring 30m by 20m and weighing 320kg, the state flag reaches 1,360kg once cables and ballasts are attached.

This year, the flypast heads to the Kallang precinct for the first time. Chinook and Apache helicopters must navigate tight turns while flying the flag over the National Stadium at precisely 6.55pm.

Flying at 950ft, higher than in previous years, ensures the flag remains visible through the National Stadium's western opening while aligning with the national anthem and parade timing.
