Adjournment motion on vaccination-differentiated safe management measures

33:53 Min

With the threat of another COVID-19 wave brought on by the Omicron variant, Singapore has had to decide whether to once again tighten safe management measures for all, or just for those who are more likely to strain the healthcare system. That is why it has chosen to tighten rules for unvaccinated workers, said Parliamentary Secretary for Health Rahayu Mahzam on Monday (Jan 10). She said unvaccinated employees in Singapore numbered about 48,000 as at 2 January 2022, down from 52,000 on 19 December 2021 - with one-third of them aged 30 to 39. If they were to catch the virus, it would have a significant impact on healthcare resources, she said. Ms Rahayu was responding to NCMP Hazel Poa, who had urged the Government to rescind a ban on the unvaccinated entering the workplace from mid-January.
