Amy Khor on bagging rubbish for disposal

00:49 Min

The impending plastic bag charge at supermarkets is meant to be a behavioural nudge to encourage the use of reusables over disposables. It will not remove the public's access to disposable bags and people should continue to bag their rubbish before disposal. The authorities have and will continue to offer suggestions on alternatives to disposable carrier bags from supermarkets for bagging waste. Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment Amy Khor said this in Parliament on Monday (May 8) in answer to an MP’s question on whether the ministry would consider working with HDB on a public awareness campaign to remind residents of the need to bag waste for disposal in rubbish chutes.
