Asst Prof Reuben Ng on drop in scam cases in Singapore

Singapore recorded a drop in overall scam and cybercrime cases in 2025. In particular, scam cases fell for the first time in eight years – down more than 27% to just over 37,000 cases, with losses declining some 18% to over S$900 million. However, government impersonation scams more than doubled. Assistant Professor Reuben Ng from the NUS Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy shared more about the decline in scam cases in Singapore.
