Indonesia's former minister and Gojek founder jailed 10 years over school laptop corruption case

Indonesia's former education minister and the founder of multibillion-dollar ride-hailing app Gojek has been sentenced to 10 years' jail. Nadiem Makarim has been convicted of corruption tied to the procurement of laptops for schools during the COVID-19 pandemic. Judges concluded that the deal cost the country around US$120 million in losses. Nadiem was also ordered to pay some US$55,000 in fines and over US$45 million in restitution, or face five more years in jail. Nadiem has denied any wrongdoing, calling the case politically motivated. Chandni Vatvani reports from Jakarta.
