British chancellor Rachel Reeves to deliver budget statement on Wednesday
British chancellor, Rachel Reeves, will deliver her highly anticipated budget statement on Wednesday, after months of speculation over how the government will plug a fiscal hole of nearly £30b, which is just under US$40b. A former Bank of England chief economist said, however, that the speculation caused what he described as an economic “paralysis” - the "single biggest reason" UK growth has flatlined over the second half of the year. Stuart Smith reports from London.
