British chancellor, Rachel Reeves, will deliver her highly anticipated budget statement on Wednesday, after months of speculation over how the government will plug a fiscal hole of nearly £30b, which is just under US$40b. A former Bank of England chief economist said, however, that the speculation caused what he described as an economic “paralysis” - the "single biggest reason" UK growth has flatlined over the second half of the year.
