Baey Yam Keng on Commercial Vehicle Emissions Scheme rebates
Under the Commercial Vehicle Emissions Scheme (CVES), those who buy "cleaner" vehicles receive a cash incentive to defray the purchase cost. More than 6,700 CVES incentives have been awarded since the scheme was implemented in April 2021. The scheme, which has been extended with adjustments, will continue to maintain the momentum of ensuring that the total cost of owning and using a "cleaner" vehicle over its lifespan will continue to be lower than the more pollutive one. Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Sustainability and the Environment Baey Yam Keng said this in reply to an MP's questions in Parliament on Tuesday (Nov 29).
