Baey Yam Keng on noise-related infractions at North-South Corridor construction site

In 2023, the National Environment Agency (NEA) took one enforcement action against the contractor of the North-South Corridor construction site located along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 for noise-related infractions. Senior Parliamentary Secretary Baey for Sustainability and the Environment Yam Keng said this in reply to an MP’s questions in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 6). He said that besides issuing fines, NEA will also issue a notice to contractors who are caught for the repeated exceedance of noise limits to restrict the working hours for the activity. And for violations of the no-work rule, he said that NEA will require the owner or the occupier of the construction sites to install electronic video surveillance at their construction sites which NEA will have access to. He added that authorities have been closely monitoring the disturbances and inconveniences impacting residents around the construction site for the North-South Corridor project and would impose on contractors to take all necessary measures to mitigate the noise.
