Budget 2022 debate: Darryl David on men's mental health and well-being
Different segments of society are affected differently by stress, and that includes men, said MP Darryl David. Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 2), he said lingering "patriarchal beliefs" can place additional stress on men and stigmatise attempts to seek help. He suggested tackling "archaic" and even "toxic" masculine stereotypes through education at secondary or tertiary level, as well as through mental wellness programmes in the military. He also called for community-based platforms specifically catering to men who are struggling with mental health.
