Budget 2022 debate: Raj Joshua Thomas on work-life harmony initiatives and lower-wage workers
It may be easier for large corporations and those with deeper pockets to put in place work-life harmony initiatives amid a drive known as the Great Resignation or Great Realignment, said NMP Raj Joshua Thomas. Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Mar 1), he called for funding to be made available to small- and medium-sized enterprises to help them formulate work-life harmony initiatives for employees. He outlined ways to ensure that Singapore’s workforce remains motivated and enterprising, and to level up the working conditions of lower-wage workers in Singapore and those in outsourced services. He also raised the issue of the “unearthly” working hours of security officers and urged the Government to take the lead by reducing the working hours for security officers in future tenders.
