Budget 2025 debate: Vikram Nair on cost of living, employment and support for families
MP Vikram Nair lauded the “wide-ranging Budget that provides support that Singaporeans need in a range of areas”, including cost of living, employment and having families. Speaking in parliament on Wednesday (Feb 26), he noted the extensive government spending and tax breaks provided in a range of sectors, and suggested that it would be important to track these investments against local job creation so that the economic opportunities being created by these investments will translate into jobs and opportunities for Singaporeans. He also called for the government to consider bringing back larger HDB flat formats, which would be important in encouraging families to have more children.
