Committee of Supply 2022 debate, Day 1: Indranee Rajah on parenthood and resilient population

17:06 Min

Supporting Singaporeans who want to start and raise families remains the Government's top priority, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Indranee Rajah. Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 2), she outlined three key strategies for a more resilient population. These are building a Singapore that is made for families, moderating the impact of low birth rates and ageing through selective immigration, and strengthening the local workforce while complementing it with the foreign workforce to grow opportunities for Singaporeans. She said the Government will redouble efforts to support Singaporeans who choose to get married and have children, and stressed the importance of fostering a pro-family workplace culture. She urged the community to come together to build a more sustainable and family-friendly Singapore.
