A new Heat Resilience and Performance Centre will be launched in the middle of this year. It will work with the National University of Singapore to research heat mitigation strategies and ways to prevent heat injuries. Insurance coverage for all servicemen of the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Home Affairs will double to S$300,000 each. He said the safety culture is strengthened through audits and inspections, and by leveraging technology. He also announced that national servicemen will now receive at least S$6,000 at the end of their full-time National Service, and at least S$5,500 at the mid-point and at the completion of their Operationally Ready National Service journey.
