Committee of Supply 2022 debate, Day 2: Rahayu Mahzam on support for SMEs
Small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in consumer-facing sectors, such as retail and food and beverage services, continue to face challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These SMEs provide important services to the community and hire large numbers of Singaporeans, said MP Rahayu Mahzam. Speaking in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 3), she asked how the Government plans to support SMEs overall, specifically those in sectors with more challenging business conditions. She also highlighted that while there are many support schemes available, many SMEs are "overwhelmed" by information and unsure which schemes they are eligible for. She asked how the Government plans to make support measures more streamlined and accessible to SMEs.
