The weakening of the multilateral system is “a serious concern”, as major powers who were the architects of the system appear to be pulling away, said MP Vikram Nair in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 3). He said this makes it more likely that major powers will clash, with smaller countries being “swallowed up or trampled on”. He asked what Singapore’s best approach might be in such an environment, and if it can take any steps to uphold the multilateral system and international order.
