Committee of Supply 2022 debate, Day 2: Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim on helping offenders become 'overcomers'
Society's perception and understanding of the challenges that ex-offenders face are crucial to reintegrating them, said MP Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 3). He said more must be done to remove stigmatisation and "labels" and asked how the Ministry of Home Affairs is working with the community to strengthen support for ex-offenders. Also, with recent statistics showing a decline in the number of Malay drug offenders, Mr Zhulkarnain wanted to know what lessons can be harnessed from the community's anti-drug campaign.
