In Parliament on Monday (Mar 7), MP Cheryl Chan asked what more is being done to extend the lifespan of Semakau Landfill, which is expected to hit capacity by 2035. She expressed concern that domestic consumption has not fallen significantly and recycling rates are not rising proportionately. Ms Chan suggested ways to improve waste management on two fronts - food waste as well as waste related to construction and demolition, including ferrous metal scraps and paper.
