Committee of Supply 2022 debate, Day 4: Murali Pillai on enforcing vehicular emission rules for foreign vehicles
The National Environment Agency (NEA) is unable to investigate drivers of foreign vehicles for infringing rules on vehicular emissions unless they are caught red-handed. This is because it does not have information on ownership of foreign-registered vehicles. To close this "gap in enforcement policy", NEA should partner immigration authorities to not allow foreign vehicles to enter or leave Singapore until errant drivers have provided their particulars or paid their fines, said MP Murali Pillai. He was speaking in Parliament on Monday (Mar 7).
