Committee of Supply 2022 debate, Day 5: Jamus Lim on free bus and train rides
Seniors and those with disability should be given concession cards for free rides on public buses and trains, said MP Jamus Lim. Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Mar 8), he said free transport for seniors will allow them to remain productive and continue working. It would encourage the elderly to be out and about, and promote their physical and mental well-being. He believes this will work with off-peak hours, when there is spare capacity in the bus and train systems. He stressed that the least that an inclusive and caring society can do for its seniors and the disabled is to "let them ride free".
