Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 2: Saktiandi Supaat on SAF training safety
The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) owes it to the parents and families of national servicemen to ensure that they return home safe and sound after training, said MP Saktiandi Supaat in Parliament on Monday (Feb 27). He asked the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) for an update on how the SAF upholds safety in training even as it seeks to conduct realistic and effective training. He also wanted to know how the SAF is seeking to innovate so that training safety is being pursued together with the aims of operational realism and effectiveness. He asked if MINDEF and the SAF regularly engage with foreign counterparts regarding approaches to training safety and what lessons they can learn from other militaries.
