Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 3: Derrick Goh on role of SMEs in green economy
SMEs must adopt greener practices in their services and products, as well as measure, track and report their own carbon footprint, if they are to stay relevant in tomorrow’s green supply chain. Beyond internal transformation, they should also venture out to pursue green prospects. MP Derrick Goh made these points in Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 28). He asked the Ministry of Trade and Industry to consider expanding the scope of current schemes and grants to spur SMEs in more sectors to make the green transition. He also asked how businesses, including SMEs and the service sector, can play a bigger part in plans to establish Singapore as an international green hub.
