With the urgency in coastal protection, does Singapore have the time and capacity to test out potential solutions? MP Poh Li San shared her concern in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 1). She asked the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment for an update on how it is building up research, innovation and engineering capabilities against the threat of rising sea levels. She also asked how Government agencies, the private sector and the public can be involved to find solutions and measures to protect Singapore’s coastal areas. Addressing the threat of dengue, Ms Poh noted that there were four times more deaths from dengue in 2022 than in 2021. She asked for an update on the progress of Project Wolbachia. She wanted to know if the project would be extended to more areas in the near future. She also wanted to know what are the key challenges faced by the ministry in strengthening Singapore's public health defences.
