Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 4: Pritam Singh on building hawker centres in areas where people work

Build more hawker centres in areas where people work and keep rentals down so that hawkers can in turn keep prices down. Leader of the Opposition Pritam Singh said this is one way in which the Government can directly intervene to keep everyday costs low for Singaporeans. He gave the example of Marina Bay where there are few choices for cheaply priced lunches and “not everyone who works in the Marina Bay area is a wealthy banker”. Mr Singh spoke in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 1).
