Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 4: Yeo Wan Ling on enhancing workplace fairness

01:44 Min

In Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 1), MP Yeo Wan Ling welcomed the recommendations in the interim report by the Tripartite Committee on Workplace Fairness. She noted that the inclusion of characteristics such as sex, marital and pregnancy status, and caregiving responsibilities are of particular significance to the NTUC Women and Family Unit. However, she noted that women continue to face workplace discrimination, many of whom find it difficult to articulate their grievances clearly or lack the right channels or opportunities to do so. Ms Yeo called on the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) to work with the labour movement in empowering and equipping workers to be able to air their grievances. She also sought clarification on how MOM will engage and support companies in effectively implementing workplace fairness practices.
