Loan delinquency provides another angle to look at housing affordability, said NCMP Hazel Poa in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 2). She asked the following questions. What is the historical delinquency rate of loans to buy HDB flats? Has there been any discernible trend over the past 30 years? Specifically, in the past three years, with breakdown by flat type, how many HDB flats were behind in payments? How many were eventually taken back by HDB and among these, what is the maximum and minimum number of months they had been in arrears? Were these households settled in rental flats or other shelters and how much of their earlier payments did they get back?
