Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 5: Poh Li San on car-sharing
Car-sharing has become more popular, filling a gap in demand for those who occasionally need a private vehicle, said MP Poh Li San in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 2). She asked how the Ministry of Transport assesses car-sharing as an effective alternative to car ownership and whether it is implementing schemes or incentives to help car-sharing companies scale up. She asked if the ministry would consider formalising a framework for this sector to ensure nationwide coverage as well as availability of different types of vehicles. She gave the example of vehicles that can accommodate wheelchairs, to serve more people who find it hard to use public transport.
