To improve safety for pedestrians, can the Land Transport Authority bring forward construction of dedicated cycling paths in all towns to improve first- and last-mile connectivity from MRT stations? MP Poh Li San raised this question in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 2). She noted that for shared paths within a certain radius of an MRT station, there is usually a higher density of both cyclists and pedestrians. Therefore, having dedicated cycling paths and pedestrian paths between MRT stations and nearby major junctions would help to segregate traffic and improve safety, especially during the morning and evening peak periods.
