Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 7: Edward Chia on efforts to prioritise mental well-being

01:54 Min

Even as Budget 2023 is helping to take care of Singaporeans’ physical well-being, including that of the most vulnerable, their mental well-being must not be neglected. MP Edward Chia, who said this in Parliament on Monday (Mar 6), called for targeted support measures and platforms to prioritise mental well-being. He brought up three questions. First, an update on the SG Mental Well-Being Network. Second, the priorities of the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre's (NVPC) updated framework emphasising corporate purpose instead of corporate giving, and whether its Company of Good programme factors in employees’ well-being. Third, whether NVPC is working with Enterprise Singapore to ensure that its Scale-up SG scheme for high-potential local companies does not just assist them in making profits but in the other two Ps in the “triple bottom line” approach - people and planet.
