Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 7: Joan Pereira on SG Cares

02:31 Min

It is not enough to increase the number of volunteers and the challenge is in sustaining their interest and engaging them meaningfully, said MP Joan Pereira. Speaking in Parliament on Monday (Mar 6), she highlighted several challenges that SG Cares Volunteer Centres face. These include a lack of medical escorts and the need for more administrative support and coordinating personnel. Noting that different volunteer centres would have varying resource support requirements, she asked how the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth would support these volunteer operations.
