Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 7: Saktiandi Supaat on success of Malay-Muslim community and expanding its contributions
In Parliament on Monday (Mar 6), MP Saktiandi Supaat noted that the Malay-Muslim community has become more diversely successful over the years, with 8.5 per cent of the Malay population having a monthly income of S$15,000 or more in 2020, compared to 2.6 per cent in 2010. He offered suggestions on how the community can expand its contributions to Singapore as it does better for itself. He also asked the Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs for an update on global and domestic challenges and how the Malay-Muslim community is being prepared to seize potential opportunities. Mr Saktiandi proposed ways to better support Malay-Muslim professionals to ensure their employability and progress in their chosen careers.
