Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 7: Xie Yao Quan on a vision for and creating a thriving arts and heritage sector

With the arts and heritage sector emerging from a “very tough” three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is an opportune time for the Government to work with the sector and look ahead to the next three to five years and envisage exciting new possibilities for the sector. MP Xie Yao Quan, who said this in Parliament on Monday (Mar 6), also asked the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) if it is co-creating a vision in the medium-term with the sector. Citing the plan to build the University of the Arts Singapore to strengthen the talent development ecosystem for the sector in the years ahead, he wanted to know if MCCY has plans to grow and develop new capabilities in the arts and heritage sector to provide and create exciting new opportunities for future talent.
