Committee of Supply 2024 debate, Day 2: Gan Thiam Poh on Work-Learn schemes and tapping on skills of pre-enlistees
The Work-Learn schemes of the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) are good initiatives for full-time National Servicemen (NSFs) to be prepared for the workforce while they undergo training to defend Singapore, said MP Gan Thiam Poh. Speaking in Parliament on Thursday (Feb 29), he wanted to know how many NSFs have benefited from the schemes and whether MINDEF has plans to expand them. Mr Gan also wanted to know if MINDEF plans to synergise its operational needs with the critical knowledge of pre-enlistees in the polytechnics.
