Committee of Supply 2024 debate, Day 4: Keith Chua on jobs for seniors

01:18 Min

Seniors should be able to choose how they wish to live out their older years, whether this involves staying in work or not. Financial considerations are a major factor and some may need to work a little longer to build up enough retirement adequacy. Making these points in Parliament on Monday (Mar 4), NMP Keith Chua asked if the Government would consider raising the retirement age to 65 before 2030. He also asked how the Ministry of Manpower can encourage employers to retain senior workers or give them suitable second-career opportunities.
