Committee of Supply 2024 debate, Day 4: Patrick Tay on reviewing the Employment Act
In Parliament on Monday (Mar 4), MP Patrick Tay asked if the Ministry of Manpower will embark on a review of the Employment Act with its tripartite partners. He drew attention to three areas. These include raising the salary caps of workmen and non-workmen and the provision on dismissals under Section 14 of the Act. He proposed that employers be required to give their reasons for termination or discontinuation of employment.
