Committee of Supply 2024 debate, Day 4: Yip Hon Weng on a more inclusive workforce

02:00 Min

Maximising the potential of older workers requires more than just extending their tenure, said MP Yip Hon Weng in Parliament on Monday (Mar 4). He asked about the Ministry of Manpower’s plans to support structured career planning, re-employment opportunities and job redesign for this group of workers. Mr Yip also asked about strategies to extend flexible work arrangements to frontline shift and blue-collar workers. He said while this presents unique challenges, it could empower people like caregivers and those with disabilities to join or remain in the workforce.
