Committee of Supply 2025 debate, Day 1: Louis Ng on support for parents and fertility treatment

05:52 Min

It is time to upgrade the tripartite standards to tripartite guidelines on unpaid leave for unexpected care needs so that it is no longer voluntary and every employee will get to benefit from it, said MP Louis Ng. Speaking in parliament on Friday (Feb 28), he also asked if the government could do more to support employers and work with companies more closely on incentives to ensure that employees use their parental leave. He also urged the government to legislate gender-neutral fertility leave to support couples, send employers a clear signal and trigger mindset shifts in the workplaces.
