Committee of Supply 2025 debate, Day 1: Muhamad Faisal Abdul Manap on bank accounts for ex-offenders
In parliament on Friday (Feb 28), MP Muhamad Faisal Abdul Manap sought an update on the number of local banks that are offering Limited Purpose Bank Accounts to ex-offenders, and whether the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has data on the take-up rate for such accounts by ex-offenders. He also urged the MAS to work with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Singapore Prison Service to ensure that ex-offenders are able to open bank accounts.
