In parliament on Monday (Mar 10), MP Gerald Giam called on SportSG to put in the right structures, pathways and financing so that Singapore's athletes have a better chance to compete on the world stage and win. He said SportSG and the various National Sports Associations could play a bigger role in securing and connecting athletes with sponsorship opportunities. Young athletes and their parents also need clearer guidance and structured pathways to navigate the system, and for parents to make informed decisions about their child’s sporting and academic future, said Mr Giam.
