Committee of Supply 2025 debate, Day 7: Usha Chandradas on Cultural Matching Fund, cross-cultural appreciation in the arts, youth audiences, salary guidelines for arts workers

12:16 Min

If we expect arts and heritage charities to be self-sustaining to an extent and not to rely entirely on donations, why not support them more when they take steps to earn their own revenue? NMP Usha Chandradas, who raised this question in parliament on Monday (Mar 10), pointed out that it would reward sustainability and encourage charities to innovate in finding new revenue streams. Besides suggesting refinements to the Cultural Matching Fund, she also raised questions and made suggestions on cross-cultural appreciation in the arts, as well as art, technology and youth audiences and salary guidelines for arts workers.
