13:13 Min

Students in the MENDAKI Tuition Programme (MTP) will soon have access to artificial intelligence (AI) tools to help them do better in their studies. MENDAKI will work with the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology Centre to provide students with AI tools that will help them better grasp topics like geometry, and improve the effectiveness of volunteer tutors. It will also partner Quantedge Foundation and Temasek Foundation to pilot an individualised learning system with diagnostic quizzes and interactive activities to better engage students and improve their academic outcomes. Senior Minister of State Zaqy Mohamad made these announcements in parliament on Monday (Mar 10). He said MENDAKI has adapted and transformed over the years to stay relevant in raising the competency of the Malay-Muslim community. The MTP has expanded to 100 centres across Singapore with nearly 9,700 students enrolled in 2024 - a 35 per cent increase over five years. Mr Zaqy also elaborated on how MENDAKI's mentoring programmes have helped students from lower-income families who might not have strong support networks and career role models, as well as how its initiatives are helping to cultivate a pipeline of community and industry leaders.
