Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 2: Jackson Lam on expanding civil legal aid and growing Singapore as an IP hub

04:00 Min

The rule of law is one of Singapore's greatest strengths, but for it to stay strong, it must remain accessible to the people and respected around the world. MP Jackson Lam said this in parliament on Friday (Feb 27), where he spoke on two areas - strengthening access to justice through civil legal aid and social legal support, and strengthening Singapore's position as a trusted global intellectual property hub in a fast-changing technological world. Noting that legal costs have increased and processes have become more demanding, he also sought clarification from the Ministry of Law on four points.
