Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 2: Rachel Ong on strengthening national resilience
In parliament on Friday (Feb 27), MP Rachel Ong sought three clarifications from the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF). Among them, she wanted to know how MINDEF envisions the role of the wider population evolving within Singapore's defence ecosystems over the longer term, particularly as demographics change and fewer citizens may have direct experience of National Service. She also wanted to know how MINDEF is working across government and society to ensure that in a national crisis, Singapore can mobilise quickly with public trust, cohesion and shared resolve already in place.
