Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 3: Alvin Tan on keeping Singapore attractive to visitors and start-ups
Singapore is moving to ensure it remains attractive to visitors and start-ups, said Minister of State for Trade and Industry Alvin Tan in parliament on Monday (Mar 2). He said the first phase of the Greater Sentosa masterplan has begun and gave an update on progress to refresh Orchard Road, including the historic Emerald Hill. Singapore also continues to curate exciting events to attract visitors. Meanwhile, the government is putting another S$1 billion into the Startup SG Equity scheme, to continue to invest in early-stage start-ups and expand into growth-stage deep-tech start-ups. It is also strengthening options for companies to raise capital in both public and private markets.
