Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 3: David Hoe on SkillsFuture 'taster sessions'

03:13 Min

Today, Singapore has a wide and growing menu of courses and subsidies under SkillsFuture. However, Singaporeans with stronger networks will have a higher likelihood of knowing people working in emerging or high-value industries they can talk to about skills they should acquire, while those without networks or social capital have to spend more time, energy and resources figuring out which pathways to take. MP David Hoe made these observations in parliament on Monday (Mar 2), where he proposed complementing existing SkillsFuture offerings with “taster sessions” at lower cost or no cost.
